The business is run by orthodox Jewish.  Their sabbath is on Saturday, so they stop doing business Friday afternoon until late Saturday.  They also close for the corresponding Jewish holidays.  Since B&H is the most reliable, trustworthy, and best stocked camera store in the US - both as a brick & mortar and internet business - it's quite a small price to pay.  It's quite clear to those of us who have been patronizing them why they stay in business.  If the religious holiday closings bother you, there are other stores - but quite frankly none can hold a candle to B&H.

For the record, some of us aren't quite so orthodox (see below), but our owner is and he's decided how we operate from an ethical point. Strict Sabbath observance includes no commerce so our site's order entry option is offline Friday evening through Saturday sundown, NYC time.

We were recently closed for Passover, eight days long. The first two and last two require Sabbath-like observance. The intermediate days do not although this year Sabbath was right in the middle of those intermediate days.

Our holiday schedule is on our site in the "Help Center."

BTW I've read MANY comments here I find very gratifying and flattering and they're all appreciated. Thank you.
