As above, don't buy that umbrella adaptor! Do a proper search within the Strobist Flickr site. DH reminds you - but you may have missed - that the hole for the umbrella shaft should not be at right angles to the upper half of the adaptor. This detail makes it much easier to orientate the Speedlite head accurately towards the centre of the umbrella.

Do you want to be able to swivel the cold shoe (Stroboframe style or Frio) independently of the upper half of the adaptor? (If you propose using Nikon's CLS or Canon Wireless Light/IR type - the answer is, yes!)

If you propose to use a Softbox, will it be a 'front-heavy' design - if so, the adaptor must be strong and you may not get away with a 'Nano' wt. stand (though Nanos are good for the lightest weight requirements). Good luck!
