Some tips for using the Tamron...

A - As with many "image stabilized" lenses, provided that you keep your shutter speeds at 1/250 sec and above, you'll get more AF "hits" with the VC "Off". VC is for hand-held, low shutter speed shooting. I was getting a lot of "AF misses" on sunny afternoons when the VC was "On". I called the service mgr at Tamron and she said that I would get more AF hits with the VC off when the shutter speeds were 1/250 and above. I put this to the test and found it to be true. I kept the shutter speed at a minimum of 1/500 sec.

Hope this helps, Wayne.

I have had my 70-300 VC a little over a year now and I haven't seen a problem with auto focus hits. But, I'm going to give this a try because: I may not know what I'm missing. I have been very happy with the Tamron and I hope to find a little gem in your tip to ehance my experience with the lens even more. Thanks
