Fuji confirmed that it is possible via fw upgrade. Different question if they will do it.

BTW, I noticed that at 3x magnification the area in focus produces some sort of a “shimmering”, pseudo focus peaking:)

Not really..

If you're shooting say a Voigtlander 50 1.1 at wide open, you cant rely on peaking alone. It wont be accurate. You have to magnify 7x first and then rely on peaking, I had the Nex 5N so I knew.

Peaking is great for fine tuning focus not determine focus in the first place.
