I have recently found myself without my beloved Panasonic 20mm f/1.7- it's in for repairs. To console myself, I've taken advantage of the recent blowout sales on the original Sigma 19mm f/2.8 lens by splurging with some birthday money. I had no intention of buying one originally, but with my own lens out of commission and all of the good reviews around the Sigma, I thought it might be fun to give it a shot.

I've been pretty impressed so far. It's sharpness is good starting at f/2.8 and great around f/4-5.6. Lightroom has a good lens correction profile which tidies up the modest barrel distortion and corner shading (that correction is almost too aggressive, I dialed it down a touch in the vertical shot). The lens also handles very nicely on the GH3 (used for these shots) and shares the same 46mm filter set most of my lenses do. I can definitely see myself keeping it as another option in the bag.

Captures were in raw, with some post-processing in Lightroom. The first shot was at f/5.6, the second f/4.
