Looking to buy a new digital camera
The Canon G15 is a little above your budget at $450 but it is one of the only point and shoot cameras left that has an optical view finder. My wife has the earlier G11 and we love it. It takes great photos. It has controls that you can leave in auto mode (we do) or set it like you would a DSLR.
Another camera is the Canon S110 at $340. The reviews rave about it's image quality. Don't know if you're into photo editing or plan to one day but this camera can also shoot in RAW mode which gives you better quality than JPG images but does require editing (Lightroom would help here).
