Aperature or Lightroom?

That is really not an advantage though. Aperture more than stands up on it's own the same as Lightroom. I can't remember the last time I opened iPhoto up. Just don't need to.

It is a big advantage for people who want to migrate from iPhoto. Also, there are some print products, like calendars, that you can order through iPhoto but not Aperture, so it's handy to be able to access your Aperture library through iPhoto.
