Where do they get expensive from? Pro quality 14mm lenses from nikon and canon are $1500 and $2000 respectively. Yes they are full frame, but the fuji is half the price and equal in IQ.

Comparing the XF 14mm to Canon and Nikon 14mm lenses doesn't make a lot of sense - they're full frame lenses with a much wider angle of view. Part of the problem is that there really aren't many comparable lenses at all (which is highlighted in the review) - the closest is arguably the stop-slower Pentax 15mm F4 Limited.

However, in the grand scheme of things, it's worth considering that the XF 14mm F2.8 costs substantially more than than the very highly-regarded Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 for APS-C SLRs.

another close lens is the slower Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 which i use and love. Corners seems sharp by f/8 and it is a real bargain Used. A great substitute for those waiting for the fuji wide zoom. Of course the fuji 14mm is the gold standard.
