Re: Internet service for a remote area?

Also look into local wireless internet services. These are wireless internet connections only, no celluar phone service. Where I am located there are two available.

Cost is usually less than cellular phone internet, and different bandwidths for different prices are usually available. You do have to have line-of-sight to their antenna.

If it looks like you will seriously consider satellite, check the price structure in regard to the download volume you expect to use. Also, if possible either visit someone with satellite or get a demonstration and look at some of the internet locations you visit regularly. Depending on the parts of the web you visit and your own tastes, performance may be completely acceptable or not so good.
