Re: D5200 vs. D90

I am really torn by this myself, what I really want it my D40 with a few extras!  The physical aspect of a D90 is an upgrade with the extra dials and buttons but the D5200 is newer technology.  I love getting out and taking photos but I take nothing to the level posted on these forums.  I enjoy natural looking images but are vibrant and real.  I mainly shoot landscapes and photo of my dog.  What I am looking for is a few more focal points for action shots, exposure bracketing and faster fps.  I had read the D90 can be a little flat out the camera and the settings need to be tweaked.  I shoot jpeg and RAW depending on the situation.  With all the hype I almost got drawn into the world of the D7100 but I can't warrant the price at the moment.

Is is true that more pixels can be less forgiving?
