Is shooting raw 4 HDR worth the trouble?

I think so Re: Is shooting raw 4 HDR worth the trouble?

I normally shoot RAW, develop them in LR (WB, lens corrections and such stuff), and then - still in LR - send them through the Merge To HDR Plugin from Photomatix. This will produce an HDR TIFF image, which I then tone map in LR using curves and various other settings.

This produces better (for me - more natural looking) results than when I also do the tone mapping in Photomatix or similar tool.

The only problem that I have with this process is that LR is blocked by the plugin until the merge is finished. Bit of diddling of thumbs...

Regards, Mike
