Why can’t lens choice be straightforward?

Re: Why can’t lens choice be straightforward?

However, I have to say that the 24-70 and 70-200 focal ranges are really better suited to FX than DX.

I know what you're saying, but it really depends on what you shoot. For example, I use the 24-70 f/2.8 on FX and while I really like it, I'm always wishing it was a bit longer. For one thing, I like to use it for portraits, and while 70mm works, it's a bit short for me. So I've actually been wanting lens like that but closer to the 35mm-105mm range (which is close to the same 3:1 ratio of the 24-70). Which just happens to be pretty much exactly what this lens would be on a DX camera.

Actually, I'm thinking about upgrading my D700, and if the test results of the D7100 blow me away, I might just switch to that camera, and get the lens I want just by using the same one I already have.
