As I stated on my webpage write up, you need at least 8GB of RAM in your system to make the RAM drive viable.  If you meet that requirement, then the RAM is indeed FREE to be used by whatever resource claims it.  I've never had Lightroom (plus all other resources) exceed 4GB, even after 8 hours of processing near a thousand pictures.  In fact, it normally levels out around 2GB.  Windows has the uncanny ability to function differently from computer to computer, so maybe your experience is different.

My original post acknowledges the SSD.  Maybe a new thread could be started about them.  This thread is about setting up and using a FREE RAM drive that greatly speeds up Lightroom 4.
