Compared to Nikon 28mm f/1.8 G

Comparing the 18-35mm to the Nikon 28mm f/1.8 G at their respective optimal aperture (f/11 for the zoom and f/8 for the prime lens), I see almost no different between the two lenses. Indeed, the 28mm resolves slightly more (or is it just better contrast?), but nonetheless the zoom is very close.

On a side note: when comparing the test shots at different apertures, I found that the 18-35mm lens at 28mm seems to show more DOF than the 28mm prime at same aperture. This shows only between center and border of the frame. Most likely due to the field curvature of the 28mm lens.
