18-35 D, is it that bad? Galen Rowell didn't think so!

Hello..
I'm currently using Samyang 14 but i plan to sell it because i'm not used to MF..
I'm considering the old 18-35..
But online reviews said that it's not a good lens..
Is it worth it to get it?
I will use it on my d600.. And will use it for walkaround, prewedding and some landscape..
Thx

Hi!

It's a bit dated (i.e. film era), but the late Galen Rowell was able to get great images with the 18-35, and because of its relatively light weight, often preferred to travel with it than the heavier 17-35:

I haven't personally used the 18-35, but from my reading, it works pretty well stopped down as a landscape lens, but not  stellar wide open. It has been reported to be better on the 35 end than  at 18mm. Bjørn Rørslett states that at 35mm, the 18-35 approaches the IQ of the 17-35.
