Re: Sony Zeiss 24mm - What is so special?

As has been stated previously, a huge consideration for me was the close-focus ability. It sets it apart from most manual glass at the 24mm focal length.

I was considering a Canon FD 24mm, but they aren't exactly 'cheap' if looking for one in good condition. By the time I found a good example (about 1/3rd Zeiss price), I had decided that I would prefer a lens with warranty, autofocus, closer focus, great bokeh, excellent sharpness, and EXIF.

Those points are not equally important, of course.

In the end I wanted it, and could afford it, so here we are. Drop by the Leica forums, and all of a sudden the Zeiss 24 becomes are bargain-bin priced lens
