No, these results are not conclusive about the absolute best possible image quality one can get with the V1 and 70-300mm G lens, but they are meant to be representative of a situation where Nikon 1 users may use such a lens. I wanted to use a real-world subject and situation rather than an artificial static subject, which I feel is of limited value. I tried to keep the ISO setting to a maximum of 400 to minimize noise and maximize feather detail. I think I will try using ISO 800 and 1600 in future to allow faster shutter speeds or higher f-stops like f/6.3, f/7.1, or f/8 to be used, which might bring a bit more sharpness out of the lens at 300mm. Using a tripod and shooting with VR on and off is also something I want to and should try.
