From your EXIF data: first image at 2013:03:01 18:50:49, second image (1st crop) 18 seconds later at 18:51:07, third image 13 seconds later at 18:51:20 and final image 23 seconds later at 18:51:43. At 54 seconds total from first image to last I'd say that if it was a meteor it would have been the slowest on record. From the sky glow and elevation it's likely a distant jet and its contrail still in sunlight just after sundown. Wish I had a more exciting diagnosis...

Hmmm... I confess that was also my first thought, but magnifying the images as much as possible I didn't see even a trace of something like an aircraft; moreover, the contrails (usually 2 or 4, sometimes 3) are never merged together in such a short distance; OK, they could be seen as a single line when the aircraft is far away and the observer is in a particular angle, but neither applies here.

On the other hand, your remark is pertinent: the object seems far too slow for a meteor and far too fast for a cloud (another opinion); the speed of an airliner would perfectly fit!

I don't know, probably you're right after all...

All the best,

Augustin
