Go for the D800E

I have owned a host of Canon (D)SLR cameras dating back to the late 90's (EllanII, EOS 3, 20D, 5D, 7D, 1DS2, 5D2).  As such...I am now HEAVILY invested in Canon glass.  At one time (20D/5D era) Canon was untouchable for sensor technology....today not so much (IMO).

If I was starting out like yourself I would definitely go with the D800E; for my type of photography it is a better option than the 5D3 (which IS a nice camera too).  The dynamic range of the D800E sensor combined with the lack of AA filter and high MP count make it a pretty clear choice for me....just my unbiased opinion.
