They're totally different cameras. If ultimate portability is a key issue for you, then it has to be the GRD. If wide(r) angle is important, ditto. Otherwise, the X100(s). The GRD has an absolutely brilliant user interface / handling, but it is a specialist tool. Then again, so is the X100.

Personally, I don't really see what the X100 has to offer over a similar sized mirrorless system camera, but it has a pretty impressive fan club, especially amongst portrait, wedding & street photographers.

I on the other hand have an irrational love for the GRD. There's no logic to it.
