Re: Koel female

Hi Sanjay

down here on the SE coast of Australia the Koels target a number of species, but most commonly in my area it's our Wattle Birds which are not much bigger than the common Myna. The size difference between young Koel and the host parents is significant and it takes all of the parent bird's efforts to  feed the koel, which all the while squawks and howls  to the point where people are looking up into the trees wondering what's being murdered up there. I haven't heard one for a few weeks so it seems that they are finished until next summer.
