Tried it, developed apps for it, didn't like it

I started working with dev versions of Win8 over a year ago. It has a few nice things... startup time is very quick.

But the UI... totally unsuitable for desktop work.Annoying is the best word I can use. It probably works well on a pad, but right now, a Windows based pad doesn't have near the software that the two popular pad platforms have. Where is the compelling reason to use a Windows pad over an Android or iPad?

Developing apps for WinRT was... interesting. The dev environment is pretty much a clone of an Android project - they're laid out exactly the same. It's locked down real tight - there are a lot of things you could do with apps in Win7 that Win8 won't let anyone but Microsoft do.

We even got a touchscreen display for a desktop pc, and it ended up being both tiring and annoying to move hands from keyboard to screen and back.

Thanks, but I'm sticking with Win7 for desktop use. Win8 just didn't cut it.
