DOF=Aperture, Focal Length, & Distance

So, my question to you all is how have you adjusted your shooting style to accommodate the limitations on DOF with your MTF gear?

Depth of field isn't wholly a sensor vs aperture issue, as we can sometimes forget.  Increasing focal length decreases DOF, and decreasing the distance between the camera and point of focus reduces the DOF as well.

Right now, my primary lens is the P/L 25mm f1.4.  If I want an especially creamy background, I just move closer to my subject.   Here's a few examples of what a 25mm f1.4 lens on a 4/3 sensor can do, if you are willing to get up close and personal:

Are the backgounds as "bokilicious" as what you might get with a 50mm FF lens?  Maybe not, but it really does the trick more than well enough.  That said, I have literally been saving up my pennies for the Panasonic 43mm f1.2 that's scheduled to appear later this year, not only for the added control over DOF, but also for the added distance that the longer focal length provides, as well as for the additional 1/2 stop more light that it lets through to the sensor.
