Re: Lenses, Lenses, Lenses

If you insist on 300mm, get the 70-200 vr ii + Nikon TC-14E II. It total $2600. Why? To capture moving animal and bird, you must be handheld or on a Wimberley head.

The Wimberley cost around $600 but your Gitzo 2 series is not good enough for that. Add a 5 series leg and the total become be $1400. Incuding the 300mm f4 lens - $2800.

If you handheld, VR is a must for 300mm (450mm on the D7100) or you're just wasting you money!

The 70-200mm is very usable as a landscape lens and it is an very good portrait lens. Its quality bokeh is second to none. It retained most of its quality even with the TC-14E II.
