Then perhaps you need to look at it from the point of view of a different market entirely:

Apple iPhone 5 (123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm)

BlackBerry Z10 (130 x 65.6 x 9 mm)

Samsung Galaxy S IV (136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm)

Nokia Lumia 920 (130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm)

Canon EOS 100D/SL1 (117 x 91 x 69 mm)

What am I looking for in these numbers? Not sure where you are going with this.

The 100D/SL1 is shorter than the smartphones people will be owning this year.

And a 1/2" x 100' PVC pipe is narrower than the 40mm pancake prime, but it doesn't mean I can easily carry it around because it is 100' long! You can't just use one dimension when comparing items.

I'm sorry, but your chosen analogy has made it clear that you do not possess the ability to understand the market this camera was designed for. Good day.
