Then perhaps you need to look at it from the point of view of a different market entirely:

Apple iPhone 5 (123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm)

BlackBerry Z10 (130 x 65.6 x 9 mm)

Samsung Galaxy S IV (136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm)

Nokia Lumia 920 (130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm)

Canon EOS 100D/SL1 (117 x 91 x 69 mm)

What am I looking for in these numbers? Not sure where you are going with this.

The 100D/SL1 is shorter than the smartphones people will be owning this year.

In case you haven't been aware, smartphones are those devices people without dedicated cameras have been taking photos with. Those devices convinced DPR it was in their best financial interests to open up a mobile photography subsite. Those devices convinced Canon to put a touchscreen in the 650D/T4i. Those devices convinced Samsung to make a camera run by phone software (Android).

In other words, the 100D isn't aimed at the mirrorless or entry-level DSLR market. It's aimed at the smartphone market to try and pull the mobile photographers into the DSLR market. To that market, the 100D is small.

It's the smallest DSLR not smart phone. Get the RX100 for that. DUUHH!
