Unfair practices by manufacturers -re pricing on products

I was doing some browsing , and on Sony's US website they are offering the Alfa's with at least $200 less than on their Canadian website. As an example: The A77 is offered for $1099 + free shipping, (US only) On their Canadian website the price is $1499.00

Granted that the population of the US is vast compared to Canada, and hence more sales, I would think that it would be worth picking up a few thousand more sale if pricing was the same . When the currency exchange is vastly different , I can understand this, but most times,especially in the last 2 years, the Canadian currency has been much higher than the US. I am no expert in this field, so maybe someone can explain why such a drastic difference.
