My point is that Canon has had very small DSLR options

But the 1000D series was always limited. It seems this model is more featured with 4fps and full HD.

I am not saying you should buy a 1000D/XS. It is definitely limited for a 2013 camera because it was released in 2008. Same time as the XSi (which also had no video) I am just saying I don't understand why people are getting excited NOW, because if they had wanted a light/small DSLR it's been an option for 5 years with the XS, T3, and now SL1.

Again, not saying this is a bad camera or that you shouldn't buy it. It's just really the 1200D and 3rd in a line of smaller/less featured rebels. All they did really was shave off the grip of the t3 and add the T2i sensor and video to it. So again, it's all marketing buzz, not a real new added benefit.

The XXXX model cameras were never up to par with the TXi cameras.  The SL1 seems more in line. Canon also states that the SL1 has a new sensor which is not even shared with the T5i.  So it's a different type of smaller dSLR.
