Now there's something we could agree on!

You are correct, I did not realise 43mm is a FF lens. At 43mm however, I stand by my earlier assessment, it is an unusual FL.

Your earlier statement was not simply that it was an unusual focal length, but that Pentax's reason for that unusual focal length was to avoid being compared with other brands. I doubt anyone would dispute that it is an unusual focal length. But as Gerry already pointed out, 43mm is a true normal, as it most closely fits the diagonal of the 24x36 film frame.

And in similar vein (as in logical reasoning) the 50-135 on a 1.5 crop sensor is - 75-202 - perhaps you think there's some ulterior motive in Pentax producing the DX focal length equivalent of the "cat-walk lens" - the 70-200 2.8? I'd call that thinking outside the box, something the other lens makers don't do so often - ok, the Sigma 50-150 2.8 might be an exception
