Re: Why use Pentax?

The 43/1.9 was designed to have the same FL as the image circle of FF 35mm lenses, making it - by a common definition of the term - the only true "normal" lens. Again, this was designed for the benefit of users.

43mm on apsc is like 65mm on FF, It is indeed a weird FL, I have never seen a 65mm prime on FF. for 50mm effective FOV most aps-c users use 30mm or 35mm lens, 35mm lenses are plenty and sigma makes a 30mm DX lens. So by making a 43mm, Pentax is indeed go out its way to make it hard to compare.

You have made some good points, mostly to the effect that different people have different preferences, and Canon suits your preferences better. That is a very sensible approach, as opposed to some who think that one brand is the THE correct brand for everyone.

However, I think you lose credibility when you assert that Pentax makes odd focal lengths for the purpose of avoiding comparison. First of all, since you haven't sat in on the planning meetings at Pentax, you cannot make that statement with any authority. But also, your comment above shows that you have at least some misunderstanding about Pentax lenses. The 43mm is a full-frame lens designed for film, so it makes no sense to use it as an example of an odd focal length by noting its crop-factor field of view.

I'm not trying to insult you, just saying that you'll get farther by sticking to facts.
