I have a couple of those lenses (85 f/1.8G and 300 f/4) but I like the 105mm f/2.5 AI better. I wish I didn't because it's manual focus but there it is.

Tell me about the 105 2.5 AI. I never tried one.


It is a very good lens indeed, perhaps more suited to full frame than to APS-C. On the smaller format I find it a bit too long for portraits and prefer the 50mm. (Can't afford an 85mm yet.)

Manual focus is easy if your camera has peaking on the LCD or viewfinder.
