Re: samsung 45mm 1.8 @ nx20 - my 5c
The SEL50/1.8 is biggish, slow poke AF and boring. I mean by that it's optically excellent, but not sexy (clean, flat image, smooth bokeh, good colors. Meh. I guess it's actually many people's idea of a perfect lens, but I like my like a little bumpier and with some surprise). It's ugly and really slow at AF so I didn't keep it as my various legacy nifties do much better.
looks like I'm not the only one who was bored by the lens after a few minutes
good to know, thought I was a hater
so if you compare the NEX+35 vs the NX+30 bundle, what is your choice? I can't stand the handling of the NEX cams, still I had the NEX3 with me on my last bike-vacation along with the "belt-cam" (Canon S95) and was glad for the GREAT panorama-shots achieved with it.
I'm just trying the NEX6, but will send it back, don't like the handling of it, compared to the NX20, despite its great performance. Will send back the NX20 though, and stick with the NX1000 until the NX300 has a pricedrop or the NX30 blows my mind. Or the NEX 7n finally let me drop the whole Samsung system. Well that all is not the topic here, sorry ^^
The only NX i had a chance to try was the 200, with 18-55 zoom. The lens sample I had was very bad, horrible plastic feeling an a definite hard/sticking point in zooming ring around 50mm. I did like the camera, controls and menus quite a bit, but the NEX 7 wipes the floor with the IQ.
I'm convinced assessing it with a prime would have been a different story, and i'll be curious to deal more with NX in the future, but for now the noise performance was just really lagging behind competition, including non APS-C. My GX-1 is way cleaner than that. Let's see if the NX300 fixes this. I hope it does because features wise it offers 99% of what I want/need.
BTW the 7 is the only NEX I'm totally happy with, the TriNavi controls make a night and day difference in handling vs every single other body (I've had a bunch : 5N, 6, C3, and 2 units of the 7).
If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up.
