No need to do it in 'post', just process for the brightness you want. No extra step needed.

This would apply to only those who process from raw and don't use software like Aperture or Lightroom to convert their raws, yeah?

I'm sure Aperture and LR allow for you to set up the processing stage to your wishes, so that you enter post with a nicely adjusted tonality. I do know that the Adobe products have a rather off-kilter brightness adjustment system which I'd prefer to avoid using, but that's just me.
