My guess is it is a poorly designed site that looks to have copied and pasted information from the other Tamron sites.  Both in Firefox and IE for me the page layout is messed up and the photo of the lens at the top of the page is horribily distorted.  And why would they put the footnote descriptions in between sections where both use the footnote numbers (it should be below everything that is using those footnotes)?  So many things wrong with that page.

If you look under the specifications, by Mount you see a *4 next to "Sony".  This *4 is indicating a footnote, which is strangely missing from their site (probably forgot to copy it).  But that *4 footnote is the same number used on the USA site which has the corresponding footnote stating there is no VC on the Sony mount models.
