True, but maybe they don't need a separate mount, if they expect to soon solve the problem of autofocus with lenses designed for SLR? Olympus seems to have some hope of accomplishing this in the near future, so probably other companies are looking in that direction as well.

And if that's the case, then EF-M is just a temporary stopgap, until they have cameras which will work with the full EF lineup.

In this Canon has form. Their first serious attempt to sell AF SLR's to the mass market resulted in the T80 and its lenses. Anyone who bought these were hung out to dry, much as buyers of the EOS M system will almost certainly be. Stop gaps for camera makers are filled with the hard earned dollars of customers...

The compact SLR (EOS B) idea looks much better because buyers would at least have a good chance of not being hung out to dry.
