End of Winter in Russia

Last week Russians celebrated “Maslinitsa,” the end of winter in Russia. During the week, folks ate as many pancakes as they could handle and topped off the week with music and the burning of “Maslyona”, the symbol of the departed winter. All of these were taken with the A57 or HXV9.

Lenin watches over the celebration.

Cossaks provided some of the entertainment

Singing and dancing in the sun.

Dressed up and made-up

Spinning the day away

Pillow fighting!

That pancake didn't taste so great.

More music from a Cossack band. Check out the pipe (on his shoulder) that he plays as an instrument.

"Maslyona" before the fire.

Dancing around the burned "Maslyona".
