Archiving the 50s

I have started to archive old  developed color film and slides from the 50s and I find that the slides did not age very well and have (for the want of a better word) blotchy look so I think I will get rid of them unless someon here has a magical fix.

The developed color 35mm film strips look very good so my question is ..I have an Epson 4870 Photo scanner and can scan at a high resolution and I assume I should save in TIFF but what resolution and they will be printed out on 4X6 eventually

I appreciate any advice , Thanks for reading this...Jeff
