Re: Is this what Nikon means with Nano Coat?

One thing that science writing has been slow to make us aware of is the revolution in materials science in the last decades that affects every aspect of life.   Someone recently told me about a new surface that will kill every bacterium on contact.   Anti-grafitti coatings have been around for decades.

In our cameras we have special glasses for lenses and very strong plastics to make cameras lighter, cheaper and stronger, just like cars.   What else?

In my latest winter jacket there is a lining that both wicks moisture and reflects back body heat, plus there is an electrical system that can be warmed by rechargeable batteries.  And I've just discovered heat packs to put in gloves or pockets to warm hands.

Carbon fiber has revolutionized tripods.

Pigments have revolutionized photographic printing.

What else am I overlooking?
