Re: Why use Pentax?

Canon, in the APSc there image quality is slightly less than Pentax (slightly smaller sensor) and frankly I've always thought that they're "plug ugly", jelly mold style.

Nikon, similar IQ quality to Pentax (same size sensor) more sophisticated AF,although on the Nikon forums there's a constant stream of AF problems,(QC problems)and it's less ergonomic to use.

Pentax, The K5II and K5IIs (sans AA filter), the latest AF module seems to have sorted the last of the complaints and it's low light performance is right up there.Ergonomic and "compact" with excellent construction and WR. In body antishake. Good value.

Lens wise, there's no point in denying that Canikon have a far greater range with a good range of telephotos, third party lenses have Canikon mounts, a lesser amount are found in Pentax. However, Pentax have an adequate range with the lovely all metal fixed focals (limiteds) and zooms, but FLs only up to 300mm unless you buy the new DA 560/5.6 at $7,000.Pentax SDM AF has a reputation for unreliability.

The main reason is, if you use a K5 for a day you will see how right everything feels,it's a joy to use!  That and the K01 as an extra low cost body.
