Sony 70-400G all the way

Owned both lenses. Had the 300 for almost two months before getting the 400. My 400 is pin sharp at all lengths and, for whatever reason, I got much better mileage out of it on the a700 and a850. When I got the a99 I decided to give the 300 another try. On my a99 it came closer to the best reviews seen elsewhere and I enjoyed using it much more.

Despite my improved feelings on the 70-300g I still sold it. The portability was nice but my range of keepers is still significantly higher with the 400g.  I've even been using the 400g for portraits and the sharpness and detail goes beyond what I've experienced on the 70-300g and even my 70-200 Tamron.

No denying it's bulk and attention getting abilities but, when I want the best IQ its what I bring along.
