In Queensland we do have some that aren't poisonous, such as this grass snake, taken with my FZ28It was looking for frogs in the pond.

Those round leaves in #2 look a lot like California "Miner's Lettuce" which the '49er goldminers use as a fresh veggie. The stem connects to the center of the round leaf, making for super-easy identification.
