Could be the cause. But that would have meant it would have adjusted the amount of compression. Why would it do that with that frame, and not with the others ? It does not make much sense...


Even when you started the burst the buffer showed a capacity of only 8 ("r08"), as if the camera were still configured were raw even though the LCD indicates JPEG. Page 348 manual does have a footnote regarding buffer capacity though:

"2) Maximum number of exposures that can be stored in memory buffer at ISO 100. Drops if Optimal quality is selected for JPEG compression, ISO sensitivity is set to Hi 0.3 or higher, or long exposure noise reduction or auto distortion control is on".
