Assuming your camera is supported in Lightroom, I can't see any advantage in doing a first pass using external OEM software. Lightroom's noise reduction algorithms are very good indeed now.

Also once you bake the TIFF, there's no way to reduce noise reduction, or the colour profile used in the raw conversion. Plus, LR needs a RAW file for highlight recovery to be effective.

Of course if LR does not support your camera, you have no option but to make TIFF in a separate pass as you describe. But for Pentax at least, using Lightroom for the full workflow is the obvious approach, and produces very good results.
