Re: Sony 70-400 G vs Bigma 50-500 OS?

My only concern with on body stabilization is that it will not stabilize also the view finder picture while the OS of the Sigma lens does it. This might be the deciding factor when trying to figure out which lens is better for my purposes? Specially if you're going to mostly use it as handheld and not on a tripod.

It might very well be that Sony 70-400 G has a small edge on image sharpness, but the Sigma 50-500 OS is neither a bad lens at all. I used to have Sigma 150-500 OS with my Nikon D7000 and this new Bigma is a quite a bit sharper with Sony A99 or NEX-6/LA-EA2.

Then there's a difference with the AF-D support on a A99. Sony 70-400 is supported but Sigma is not. I still have to do more testing to decide if this difference is really meaningful?
