1/500 isn't often necessary, but if you regularly need a lot of speed and aren't in daylight conditions, then, yeah, this might not be the best lens for you.

That is why people shoot with f2.8 lenses. If you shoot action, then a faster A mount lens on an LA-EA2 adaptor should give you a better result and faster AF

For sure, but at what cost? And size?  I've been making do with f4-f5.6  lenses. The 55-210 is a further compromise, but perhaps depending on the situation.
