Here is my thought.....

Find a good quality D300 at a very reasonable price.

Add a 35 1.8 and a 70-300VR Nikkor, both priced well.

Fill in the gap with whatever suits your shooting style.

Now add a flash gun and tripod plus all the little stuff.

Any funds left over go on a trip and learn your gear.

I have been shooting Nikon sense the early 70's and

recently I would be cautions in buying a new camera.

Even if a D400 arrives I'll wait till the dust settles before

making any kind of investment. This is just my opinion ..;-)
