after exhaustive search of reviews i chose the S50 because of the mpeg movie/sound capability as well as the multipositional screen that allows one to do self portraits easily. i dont need more than a 2.1 megapixel since i only want 4 by 6 prints. the camera links to my iMac like a charm, and the USB interface is fast and easy. i also got Sears to match an online price (http://www.pricegrabber.com - thanks to the person who posted this excellent resource)- that and a one day 10% off sale got me out the door for $487! so that just made it irresistable. i almost bought a Nixon 880 but the lack of sound in the movie mode made me go with the sony - understand that i sold my TRV11 because it wasn't convienant to just pick up and shoot short video clips of my baby and the stills were poor quality, so i was looking for the compact easy to use digital camera that doesnt exist yet - point and shoot ease and the ability to do short quality movie clips - something like the Sony RUVI but with digital specs - but for now the S50 is as close to my ideal as i could find. maybe the Sharp VNEZ5 will be the camera, but i havent seen any write ups on it yet.

Problems:

the 4mb memory stick is a joke. i'm ordering a 64mb stick today. the mpeg movie mode could be better quality and 15 seconds goes by faster than you'd imagine. i also cant find a program that will let me edit the mpeg movies ala iMovie but that's no fault of the camera - anyone have a solution?
