Konica KD-300 Zoom review
Got this camera for about 6 months and took about
over 2,000 pictures. I use the camera at least 2,3
days a week. I am very happy with it, this is my first
forray into this digital image arena and I am ... hook.
Construction and size :
The small size make it great to carry everywhere
but a bit tough to handle if one have big hands.
I drop it on my garage concrete floor about 3 weeks
after I got it but luckily it landed at the corner of the
battery door and still function just fine. I carry this
little baby everywhere in my short pocket.
This camera has about all the feature that I need for
all the snap shots that I use it for. The LCD screen
tend to wash out in sun light.
Battery will drain fast if you use the flash too much.
I solve this by setting the flash to off and only turn
on force flash when I need to use it. I never set the
flash mode to AUTO, in other words.
image : I only use the S mode (3.3 mp) less than 10
time since I bought it because I am still using
the 16meg SD card that came with the camera
and in S mode with close to 2meg per picture
I can not take a lot of picture. But, that's easily
solve with a 128meg card. I've been taking
picture with mosly in F mode (2.1, I think) and
N mode (1.3, I think) and quite happy with the
output. The N mode is good enough for 4X6
and F mode is good enough for 8X10 print on
my Canon S520 printer (2400X1200 res.). The
image is not as sharp as I expected but then
it's little camera with a little lense that get a lot
of wash out light. I wish they built in some sort
of a hood.
Ease of use :
Very easy to use
Value for money:
I paid $350 for it from Costco online with $50 rebate,
hence, the true price is only $300. A good deal for
a 3.34 mp camera.
I been taking picture for around 27 years and had many
cameras, use medium format camera, large format (8X10
view camera) and used to print my own color picture as
well. This is my first forray into digintal arena and I am
quite impress with this camera as well as the result of
images that I got from printing out 8X10 pictures on
my Canon printer. I don't use the software that include
with the camera and use the printer software mostly.
I would recommend this camera to anybody who are
somewhat serious about photography and plan on
printing their picture up to 11X14; for the people who
only want up to 8X10 printing I think the KD-200Z
at 2.1 mp would do just fine.
None so far.
