Canon PowerShot S45 review

Very good camera and multi-controller is no problem at all. White balance requires some manual imput. Generally, get the camera if you are planning to use manual controls a lot. S230 does a much better job with casual travel shots in auto mode. It is also much faster than S45, despite what seems to be the same Digic Processor. There are no major improvements in image quality (and speed?) from S30, S40, but some minor improvements in controls are very welcome.

The movie mode on this camera is not as good as on a much smaller S230 and is not useable on TV screen, like S230 films. I am certainly hoping for an improvement on the next model to at least 640X480 at 20 fps. Come on, Canon, Compact Flash cards are 3GB already and space is not a problem!

But all in all, it's probably the best compact camera for artistic shots out there.
