Pentax Optio 450 review
This camera is a winner, with one extremely glaring flaw, and one that's not a show stopper.
The design is nice - solid and attractive. The zoom is great and the lens is nice. I love the interface, particularly the playback mode. Notably less noise than the Optio 550 at high ISO settings. Battery life is beyond superb.
The bug involving night shots has been fixed! See my web page for more info: http://www4.ncsu.edu/~opevans/optio450bug.html
However, the camera still has a crummy resizing algorithm used for making lower resolution shots. The one that pentax uses does not do a good job - giving images jaggies that get worse as the resolution gets lower. They're pretty awful at 640x480, not that bad at 1024x768, and difficult to notice at 1600x1200. If you always keep your camera pegged at maximum resolution like me, then this problem won't affect you at all.
